- I am having difficulty getting my modem and Sun 4/330 talking
- to each other with hardware flow control enabled. It works
- fine using XON/XOFF, but as soon as I initialize the port
- (in gettytab) with ms=crtscts, and set the modem for hardware
- flow control, I lose connectivity.
-
- Since it's kinda hard to tell what's going on with the modem,
- I tried replacing it with a dumb terminal that also supports
- hardware flow control (for testing purposes). Same problem.
-
- Please excuse me if I am somewhat naiive when it comes to
- RS232 details, but I couldn't resist checking things out with
- my break-out box. I've found that the two devices will
- communicate with each other ONLY when pin 8 (CD) is disabled.
- What does this indicate?
-
- Not surprisingly, doing a long directory listing across this
- connection results in strange output. If I am not mistaken,
- it would be a bad idea to attempt running without the Carrier
- Detect, as it pretty much defeats the purpose of using hardware
- flow control. Am I correct?
-
- Can somebody tell me how I can get these devices communicating
- using HFC?
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
- Gary
