- Hi,
-
- I have the following problem with an application written in SunView(!)
- which runs on SUN SPARCstations (2 and 10):
- After several windows (~8) are opened, the creation of the next window
- is denied with the following message:
-
- >> Couldn't open window placeholders: Too many open files
- >> /dev/win55 would not open (be created)(errno = 24)
- >> no more windows available
- >> WIN ioctl number 1c: Too many open files
- >> window: Window creation failed to get new fd
-
- and the application crashes. Therefore I have the following questions:
-
- - Is there a system variable for the possible number of open files/windows? If yes,
- can this number be increased without getting into trouble?
- - Can this error be handled internally (by the application)? If yes, how?
-
- Thank you very much for any answers to these questions!
