- ->I have a Telebit WorldBlazer I am installing on an old SGI 4D/70. This
- ->a twin tower IP4 machine. Anyway, I believe I should set the port spee
- ->57600 to allow the maximum throughput on a V.32bis, V.42, V.42bis
- ->connection.
- ->
- ->Is this possible? Can the port run at 57600?

- John:
-
- I had the same question several months ago when we were writing code to
- run our video tape machines. We needed to communicate with them at 38,400.
- The 4D70 that we had would not go past 9600. I think we did get it into
- 19.2 at one point, but we had problems, and it still was not fast enough.
-
- You can edit your inittab and gettydefs files to 57600, but it just wont
- go that high. HOWEVER!!! We tried another machine, a CS12 which is also
- called a 4D60, which is just a 4D70 without graphics. And it worked! I
- don't know if it supposed to or not, but we have two ports running at
- 38,400, and they work great. SGI was no help in this matter, so don't
- bother calling them.
-
- If I can be of any more help, feel free to write back.
