- I am trying to run SLIP under 3.0 and am experiebcing problems:
-
- when I put a reference in the /etc/rc.local file to:
- sh usr/dialupip/config/rc.slip
-
- at bootup, when viewing the process in the monitor,
- just after it says "updating cron" (or something close to that)
- it calls in to the SLIP server, and then sits there...
- untill I tell it to power down.
-
- If I don't have that reference in the /etc/rc.local file,
- and then (from root) execute 'sh /usr/dialupip/config/rc.slip'
- it configures fine, but then when I run 'slipup' (in
- /usr/dialupip/bin/) it calls just fine, and apparently connects,
- but then when I attempt to telnet or ftp to a host, it just sits
- there....
-
- BTW>> when I run rc.slip from rc.local, along the way somewhere
- it says something to the effect of "cannot modify kernal,
- wrong version" What is this all about? I got the SLIP from
- sonata.cc.purdue.edu in /pub/next/2.0-release/bin (well, at least
- somewhere in the 2.0-release directory)
-
- Is SLIP not compatible with 3.0 (at least this version?!?!)
- if so, where can I get a "good" version???
-
-
- please respond via email, and I'll post a summary soon.
-
-
- thanks,
