- When I was loading a copy of WordPerfect.pkg this morning (don't ask why
- I was doing it at 4am, I'm cramming for a biostats test) I got this error:
-
- Nov 9 04:25:39 Workspace[155]: Error while querying for for device
- info at /WordPerfect 2 with devnum 1544.
-
- The disk was mounted and showed up in the FileViewer as a file folder and
- not as a floppy. The message on the shelf said that "7.01 KB available on
- foreign disk" but nothing was misbehaving. Just for fun, (when I had
- copied that part of the WP.pkg file onto my hard drive for safe keeping)
- I went ahead and re-initialized the disk and got:
-
- Nov 9 04:28:55 Workspace: Unmounted floppy disk at /WordPerfect 2
- /usr/etc/disk -i -h legolas -l "WordPerfect 2" /dev/rsd1a
- disk name: PLI SUPER FLOPPY

- device = /dev/rsd1a block size = 512 capacity = 1 MBytes

- However, the floppy icon still didn't show up in the File Viewer, but still
- wanted to behave as a "foreign" disc. I proceeded with the installation
- and moved on with my business. Just thought it was rather odd behavior
- and wanted to share it. Oh, BTW, I've got NS3.0-Gold running with the
- DiskEject bug fix running on this system with a PLI SuperFloppy drive
- which seems to working okay (for the most part :-). I'm curious, though,
- about the "foreign" disc business. Hmmm.
-
- Peace
