  12. Well, I called up last night and ordered a gig drive, the HP
  13. 97549TF S2.

  15. It's SCSI 2 drive (I hope the NeXT accepts it...), not very fast,
  16. not very quiet, but the one I wanted was sold out (HP 97558), and
  17. I can't wait many more weeks for a disk.  Besides, this one was
  18. even cheaper (about $1200) so I can't complain.

  20. What I would like, before it arrives, are disktab/builddisk
  21. scripts/parameters.  Although I have on one occassion worked a
  22. bit of black disktab magic, it was long ago, and I've never
  23. worked with a disk this big, so I'm not sure what the ideal
  24. partition configuration would be.  I'm sure there are many of
  25. you who are dying to let me know The Right Way to do this (tm)  ;-)

  27. If anyone know which formatting program will work (The Formatter?),
  28. if the disk  has a cache and how I can enable it, or other tips I would
  29. appreciate hearing them, via e-mail.  Maybe I'll even write a
  30. HP-recipie for the archives when I'm done...

  32. The disk will be sitting in  a cube at home, with only a couple
  33. of users, but lots of software.  It will possibly be set up as
  34. a local archive resource, or user group resource (this is my
  35. personal machine).

  37. The disk's formatted capacity is 1000MB, 17ms access.
