  12. I tried to install some of the PD/SW fonts on the archives, following  
  13. advice from the net, and got mixed results.

  15. As root, I placed the fonts in LocalLibrary/Fonts, then ran  
  16. buildafmdir and cacheAFMData on the directory.  The fonts appeared in  
  17. the fonts panel and seemed to work (eg they would preview correctly).

  19. Then I logged out and back in as a regular user.  But now only some  
  20. of the fonts work.  They all show up in the font panel, but most are  
  21. marked unusable.  Some, however, do work correctly.

  23. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

  25. In general, though, this kind of rigmarole, even assuming it worked,  
  26. is what one expects of Windoze, not NeXT.
