- I've installed a few of the PD/SW fonts from the archives -- or
- should I say I've tried to install them. I've tried the various
- things recommended over the net in the last few days, but with only
- limited success.
-
- As root, I placed them in /LocalApps/Fonts, then ran buildafmdir and
- cacheAFMData on that directory. All the fonts appeared in the font
- panel and seemed to work (ie would preview) when I tried as root.
-
- After logging out and then back in as a regular user, all the fonts
- were still in the font panel, but most (not all) were marked
- unusable.
-
- (This is still 2.1, BTW, and I have far less than 255 fonts; more
- like 12).
-
- Any ideas/suggestions?
-
- In any case, as I said before, this rigmarole you have to go through
- to install fonts (even if it worked, which it doesn't seem to) is
- what I expect from Windoze, not from NeXT.
