  12. I've installed a few of the PD/SW fonts from the archives -- or  
  13. should I say I've tried to install them.  I've tried the various  
  14. things recommended over the net in the last few days, but with only  
  15. limited success.

  17. As root, I placed them in /LocalApps/Fonts, then ran buildafmdir and  
  18. cacheAFMData on that directory.  All the fonts appeared in the font  
  19. panel and seemed to work (ie would preview) when I tried as root.

  21. After logging out and then back in as a regular user, all the fonts  
  22. were still in the font panel, but most (not all) were marked  
  23. unusable.

  25. (This is still 2.1, BTW, and I have far less than 255 fonts; more  
  26. like 12).

  28. Any ideas/suggestions?

  30. In any case, as I said before, this rigmarole you have to go through  
  31. to install fonts (even if it worked, which it doesn't seem to) is  
  32. what I expect from Windoze, not from NeXT.
