-
- Not surprised. INITs are traditionally "system breakers" since they
- frequently make use of undocumented, unsupported, and highly
- questionable methods to do whatever it is they do. Hardly Apple's
- fault. Hint: There are a number of other 'dos mounter' type packages
- out there that work with 7.1.

-
- THIS is a legitimate gripe. It's not good that Apple broke their own
- software. Although it IS good that they had MacTCP 1.1.1 at our
- University before System 7.1 came out.

- Not a flame, just a comment... :-)
- Have you actually WORKED with IBM's? We spend something like $30,000
- per year on upgrade contracts for MSDOS software, for less than 100
- machines. Shoot, we spend something like $2500 per year just for
- anti-virus software for the things, and another $2500 per year just
- for network software. (Unlike many individuals, we have to remain legal).
- BTW, this is not restricted to DOS machines. EVERY platform has ongoing
- costs, unless you want to remain 'static'.

-
- Why do you need System 7.1? Why do you need upgrades? What was wrong with
- the setup you had before? Did it work? Did it do what you wanted? And,
- above all, what makes you think it's going to be better if you buy an
- IBM? If you must have the latest, you're going to pay for it, on EVERY
- platform.
