  27.        Standard Nisus (3.05) does *not* handle Arabic. Like many word
  28. processors (MS Word), it will display the Arabic, but does not allow
  29. editing the text once typed. E.g. a full sentence is considered a single
  30. word, and the cursor does not know where it is, mixing up left-to-right and
  31. right-to-left directions. There is, however, a special version, Nisus
  32. International, that does accept non-European scripts and adds some features
  33. to handle them. It costs about $450, no rebates (and is copy protected with
  34. a dongle).
  35.        Another option is WinText of France, a simpler and slower (and less
  36. expensive) multi-script word processor. There are also some older ones like
  37. AllScript (sold under the labels of RavK'tav (Hebrew) and Nousous
  38. (Arabic)). Same price level as WinText, rather less features.
  39.        WordPerfect, MacWrite, MS Word, WriteNow are all non-Arabic compatible
  40. with the same sort of symptoms as described. Evidently, the problems for
  41. each script is different (The problems with Arabic is basically its
  42. left/right direction change), so a program that works with Japanese may not
  43. work with Arabic and vice versa.
