- Well, I recently "stole" a copy of System 7.1 from my friend who got a
- PB160. I performed the installation on my external HD as to not ruin
- my 7.0.1 w/tune-up. I have a SE with 4 megs of RAM, internal 20, and
- external 20 and 40. I run file-sharing all the time (a localtalk
- network) and don't have any needs beyond Word, White Knight, and the
- occasional game or two.
-
- Well, after playing with it for a while and testing it with some
- inits, etc, I truly can't figure why I should use it!!! The System
- uses 300+ more K than 7.0.1, and I am limited to having my fonts in
- one directory. Yes, things are cleaner, and nicer, but it certainly
- doesn't seem much different.
-
- As well, when I went back to 7.0.1, I found out all my sharing setups
- were gone and thus had to go back and re-set them ALL.. ugh...
- Although the Users & Groups file seems to be compatable with 7.1 (so I
- can use the same passwords, etc), I am not sure if I would eventually
- have problems.
-
- Well, to my point: Should I bother switching to 7.1, or stick with
- 7.0.1? Any advice is appreciated.
