- I just installed a Brainstorm accelerator in my Plus and didn't experience
- too much of a speed gain. After doing some checking around, I've determined
- that I probably need to reinitialize my harddrive. Now, I've got an old
- Seagate 30meg external. It originally came with OnTrack's Disk Manager Mac.
- Now, here's what i want to know:
-
- 1. Should I get a new copy of the formatting software?
- 2. Have hard drive "drivers" changed that much in three years?
- 3. Could I use Silverlining instead?
- 4. Once I get some decent new formatter, what should I set my drive
- for optimal performance? By that, I mean to gain the most from
- the drive (as is) and the accelerator. Should I ditch the "blind
- read and write" and lower the interleave?
- 5. Forgot to say, I'm running 608 on a 4 meg plus
- 6. Where should I transfer the data in the meantime? Disks or someone
- elses' harddisk?
-
- I know some of these questions sound ridiculous, but I don't want to destroy
- my drive. It will have to do for a couple of more years, then I can afford
- a new one...that's why I got an accelerator. Anyway, please email me your
- opinions, comments, or questions. Thanks a lot!
