- ?: marks items I am unsure about.
- PDS slot in IIvx is an accelerator slot.
-
- SIMM's currently come in 256K, 1M, 2M, 4M, and 16M modules.
- To add memory, an entire bank must be filled with the same size modules.
-
- I seem to remember that the IIci was sold with a 128k external (i.e. in
- the cache slot) cache plugged in. Please, no flames. If you know, please
- post! With source! Until then, treat this item as unconfirmed. This is
- an edu machine, of course, if that makes a difference.
-
- I also remember from previous threads, here and elsewhere, that the IIci
- and others had the sampling hardware, yet it was not taken advantage of
- through the OS. It might be impossible to use it through S/W, it might
- be completely wrong, or I might be right. Don't know. The data sheet I
- have on the IIci does say "Apple's custom digital sound chip provides 8-bit
- stereo sampling at 44.1 kilohertz, ...."
- Excuse me, I just re-read that. This is the sound generation hardware!
- Terribly sorry for the previous confusion!
-
- ROM in the IIci provides: 32-bit addressing, HFS, 32-bit QuickDraw

- I have it and I believe it would be of good use to others reading this
- newsgroup, including the many lurkers we never hear from. It is possible
- that others might provide further information because of information (correct
- or incorrect) that I provide here (page out: P. Stadelmann mentioning the ROM
- in the IIvx allows use of a RAM disk, something I myself was provided through
- the OS, not hardware. Also, the larger ROM means that much more of the OS is
- provided in ROM, so allowing more room to the RAM-based OS to load additional
- functions, or execute faster. page in). And I really do not appreciate your
- claim at my distributing falsehoods, giving the impression that you view my
- actions as malicious, or myself as uninformed. If I were so stupid, how is
- it I provided such a large list?
