  63. I seem to remember that the IIci was sold with a 128k external (i.e. in
  64. the cache slot) cache plugged in.  Please, no flames.  If you know, please
  65. post!  With source!  Until then, treat this item as unconfirmed.  This is
  66. an edu machine, of course, if that makes a difference.

  68. I also remember from previous threads, here and elsewhere, that the IIci
  69. and others had the sampling hardware, yet it was not taken advantage of
  70. through the OS.  It might be impossible to use it through S/W, it might
  71. be completely wrong, or I might be right.  Don't know.  The data sheet I
  72. have on the IIci does say "Apple's custom digital sound chip provides 8-bit
  73. stereo sampling at 44.1 kilohertz, ...."
  74. Excuse me, I just re-read that.  This is the sound generation hardware!

  81. This is not your private newsgroup.  I am providing this information because
  82. I have it and I believe it would be of good use to others reading this
  83. newsgroup, including the many lurkers we never hear from.  It is possible
  84. that others might provide further information because of information (correct
  85. or incorrect) that I provide here (page out: P. Stadelmann mentioning the ROM
  86. in the IIvx allows use of a RAM disk, something I myself was provided through
  87. the OS, not hardware. Also, the larger ROM means that much more of the OS is
  88. provided in ROM, so allowing more room to the RAM-based OS to load additional
  89. functions, or execute faster. page in).  And I really do not appreciate your
  90. claim at my distributing falsehoods, giving the impression that you view my
  91. actions as malicious, or myself as uninformed.  If I were so stupid, how is
  92. it I provided such a large list?
