- Would one of you who live near Fry's and did in fact do the upgrade mind
- buying the chip and socket for me and sending it in the mail? I am confused
- about the correct parts and want to be sure I get the right stuff. I would
- just send you the cash before you even went. I do not think that anyone here
- would rip me off and take the cash and not send the stuff, after all it is
- only ten bucks or so. If noone is willing to do this, would the be willing to
- e-mail me the tel. no. of Fry's and the exact part numbers? I don't want to
- buy the wrong stuff. I am not worried about getting the stuff in TOO much of
- a hurry, as I don't have the time to do the upgrade anyways until about
- Thanksgiving or thereabouts. Besides, I got the same (about) performance
- increase you guys are reporting (sometimes more..) from a 64K LogiCache IIsi
- pds cache card. I am fairly sure that this cache card would work with the
- 25 MHz upgrade, as I think they sell the exact same card to IIci owners.
- Imagine this, I could go from 1.25 times the speed of a normal IIsi (with my
- 64K cache card in) to 1.56 times as fast. Wow, that's a lot! (that would be
- 1.25 times 1.25 for the mathematically disinclined). I get a 40% increase in
- 8-bit graphics performance with my cache card under Speedometer 3.1, and so
- that combined with the big increases I have heard of from others going to
- 25 MHz would probably DOUBLE my 8-bit performance. Hmmm. Well, it is LATE,
- so I am going to go to bed and enjoy sweet dreams of my FAST IIsi...
-
- Remember, if someone out there in Cali could help me out with this, I would
- be much obliged!
