-
- It's worth checking the degree of fragmentation on the hard drive, though
- usually a slowdown caused by disk fragmentation occurs very slowly over a
- period of time.
-
- It's also very important to make sure you're keeping your net virus-free.
- If an Appleshare file server becomes infected with WDEF, it can slow down
- unbelievably -- sometimes taking many minutes to open a window from a
- workstation.
-
- Finally, it is worth evaluating the network's performance as well, as
- dropped packets could easily result in a slowdown as well. I don't know
- any of the program's names right off hand, but there are several
- non-commercial ones that will be able to help you in this regard.
