  14.   Well, this figures.  Just when I was about ready to plunk down the
  15. money on a 128Mb 3.5" optical drive, what do I see looking through
  16. MacWorld?  A 256Mb drive, that uses similar cartridges, and can
  17. still read and write the old format!  Obviously, more is better in
  18. at least one way of looking at things, and this drive also claims to
  19. have double the transfer rate.

  21.   So:  anybody got one?  How are they, compatibility-wise?  What's
  22. the best vendor/price?  The only ones I've seen are based on a MOST
  23. mechanism, which didn't fare well in MacUser's tests (on their 128Mb
  24. version).  Does Sony or Ricoh make a 256Mb version?  Is there
  25. actually a standard?  What're the possibilities of upgrading a 128?
  26. Is it just a new controller board, or a whole new mechanism?
