- Greetings!
-
- Well, this figures. Just when I was about ready to plunk down the
- money on a 128Mb 3.5" optical drive, what do I see looking through
- MacWorld? A 256Mb drive, that uses similar cartridges, and can
- still read and write the old format! Obviously, more is better in
- at least one way of looking at things, and this drive also claims to
- have double the transfer rate.
-
- So: anybody got one? How are they, compatibility-wise? What's
- the best vendor/price? The only ones I've seen are based on a MOST
- mechanism, which didn't fare well in MacUser's tests (on their 128Mb
- version). Does Sony or Ricoh make a 256Mb version? Is there
- actually a standard? What're the possibilities of upgrading a 128?
- Is it just a new controller board, or a whole new mechanism?
-
- Comments?
-
- Thanks,
- --Mike
