  11. I was in the market for the best 16" monitor, and I bought a NEC 5FG (uses an
  12. INVAR shadow mask). But, I sent it back and got a refund because, for me, the
  13. resolution was much poorer than COMPARED to the Apple (Sony) 13" trinitron
  14. monitor I still use. I HIGHLY recommend you check out the NEC picture quality
  15. (too grainy for me) before you purchase one. It also has a VERY strange
  16. feature which reduces and increases the brightness of the screen depending on
  17. what is on the screen. I really did not like that. I would turn up the
  18. brightess and the monitor would sense it being too bright and dim it! On this
  19. last point (called gray linearity) see page 259 in the Sept 92 issue of MacWorld.
  20.      If I were to buy a 16" monitor, it would DEFINITELY be a trinitron tube (it
  21. is hard to go away from trinitron razor sharp picture after you have gotten
  22. use to them), and most likely be the E-Machines T16 II.
  23.      Since I got an Apple 8*24 display card, I have been able to use MaxAppleZoom
  24. utility to make my 13" into a 14", and find that I really do not need a 16", -
  25. at least not for now.
