  11.    For all you hard disks recording enthusiasts out there....  I went to
  12. Wurlitzers today and picked up some literature on Digidesigns line of digital
  13. audio cards for the Mac.  There were some questions regarding the minimum hard
  14. drive access times that these cards required.  The minimum access time is
  15. somewhat dependant on the software you are using.  The Sound Designer ][
  16. software requires a drive with an access time of 28ms or less.  The Deck
  17. software requires a drive with an access time of 18ms or less.  Third party 
  18. sequencing software that allows you to interface with Digidesign products 
  19. (such as Mark of the Unicorns Digital Performer or Opcode's Studio Vision)
  20. requires a drive with an access time of 18ms or less.  The top of the line Pro
  21. Tools digital hard drive recording system was very specific in regards to it's
  22. hard drive specifications...... 18ms access time and a transfer rate of 800kb
  23. per second or faster.  As far as CPU requirements go .... Mac ][ or Quadra
  24. series.  I would assume that this means any NuBus Mac.  In the digital
  25. synthesis lab 2 at Berklee we are using SE-30 equipped with Sound Tools audio
  26. interface (which is in an external box) and a sound accelerator card (which
  27. goes in the SE-30's PDS slot and interfaces with the audio interface).  This
  28. configuration for the SE-30 was not listed so I doubt that they make it
  29. anymore, I'll do some more research to be sure.  I'm sure you can find them on
  30. the used market.  Well that's all for now .... I'll keep you posted when I
