- The serial port is the low man on the totem pole when iit comes to
- processing interrupts. Doing file transfers at high speeds, characters
- are sometimes lost because the serial port isn't serviced fast enough.
- A 16550A has FIFO buffers which reduces this problem, when used with
- telecom software which recognize and use them.
