-
- The big thing with ESDI drives is the transfer rate of the drive
- itself. I have an ESDI XT8760 Maxtor drive which is rated at 15MB/sec.
- The early CDC 182 is a 10MB/sec drive. On my 386/33 with an Ultrastor
- 12F controller I will get a transfer rate of 1500kb/sec. Also what is
- the speed of the system bus. If it's 8mhz that will make a difference.
- I am operating the bus at 11mhz. Remember that the transfer rate is
- a raw data rate, no consideration is made for the operating system or
- the bus speed. On the 486SX/25 you might try raising the bus speed if
- it's an option in your BIOS. It should help get closer to the raw data
- rate.
