- A subject of increasing processor speed by changing the crystal on
- motherboard has popped up in this newsgroup a couple of times. This
- sounds very interesting, but I wonder if anyone has used this method
- to increase system performance without any loss in reliability. Anyone
- care to share their experiences?
-
- I assume that when changing the crystal one should take in consideration the
- speed of the board, main memory, cache memory and the possiblity of CPU
- heating up. All this is very fine, but could I do permanent damage to my
- processor/system when running it on higher speed (after installing heat sink
- and cpu cooler that is) than what it was designed to run on?
-
- Also if anyone has found an IDE/FDD controller or SVGA card that runs on
- a >15 Mhz ISA bus, I would like to hear about such cards (and so would
- several other people, I assume).
-
- Any recommendations, warnings & sources will be appreciated.
