- The problem: My system cannot recognize C drive.
- I start from A drive, but when I type C after the prompt, it shows
- this message: invalid drive specification.
-
- Information about my PC:
- 1. It's a 386DX-33
- 2. AMI BIOS
- 3. Fujitsu IDE Hard disk. Model #: M2612ET
- 4. Hard Disk type in CMOS:
- Type Cylinder Head Sector Capacity
- 47 666 8 33 86MB
- I never had problem with it, and I am sure it is o.k. BTW, it's only 1
- year old.
-
- What I did:
- 1. My hard disk was logically partitioned into two drives: C and D. Last
- night, I decided to delete the partition and turned it into one drive only.
- I did this with FDISK command from drive B. At this moment, I could still go
- to C drive. However, when I typed "dir", the message "invalid media....."
- came up. (Sorry, I cannot remember the whole message.)
- 2. Then I accidentally low-level formatted the hard disk with program CHECKIT.
- From that moment on, the system cannot recognize C drive. However, I could
- still test the hard disk speed with CHECKIT. BTW, I tried NORTON, but it
- could not recognize C drive either.
-
- Any advice will be appreciated.
