- I'm thinking about upgrading my system and thought I'd harness the
- net's collective wisdom. I'm currently running a 386DX/25 with
- 8 MB RAM, 80 MB harddrive, and a high-resolution Hyundai 14" monitor
- with Trident's 1 MB video card. I run either OS/2 2.0 or
- DOS/Windows 3.1, selected at boot time, depending on the task I
- want to perform. I have my DOS partition Stacked and will do the
- same to the OS/2 partition when OS/2 Stacker becomes available.
-
- I'd like to improve the machine's "response," and wondered which of
- the following would provide the most "bang-for-the-buck" (without
- spending more than $200 to $300):
-
- - graphics accelerator card: the ATI Graphics cards look like a good
- buy; other recommendations?
-
- - Cyrix 486DLC CPU upgrade: does anyone know anything about this
- product?
-
- - complete motherboard transplant
-
- I might be wrong, but I believe I've already maxed-out my machine's
- RAM capacity. I've also thought about a CD-ROM, but I'd guess that
- anything compatible with OS/2 would be outside my price range.
-
- Thanks in advance!
