- Hello,
-
- I am having the same intermittent NMI parity error with my machine that a
- number of other people are and I was wondering if anyone knew how to disable
- parity checking on my machine?
-
- I have a XIOS XS2 dating from 1988. I bought it second hand, without any
- manuals. I decided to upgrade so I replaced the existing 1Mb 120ns SIMMs with
- 4Mb 80ns SIMMs (the motherboard apparently couldn't take more than 4Mb).
-
- When running XCOPY and PKZIP under MS-DOS 5.0 I got intermittent failures with
- the message '110 NMI Parity Err Seg: ????'.
-
- I have phoned XIOS who weren't very helpful, suggesting that it was a
- motherboard failure (I had tried replacing the SIMMs so I don't think they were
- to blame). Since I need the computer I have put back my original memory, which
- works correctly.
-
- I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how to disable the parity
- checking (there doesn't seem to be a way using the CMOS setup program).
