- Question: what does one do with an IDE drive that has developed low level
- problems, specially cylinders 0-3?
-
- I read somewhere in an article in NewsNet that software is available to
- redo a low level format on an IDE drive (presumably the servo data is
- correctly replaced!). Can anyone let me have info on this as we have
- several drives which have developed such problems.
-
- If only the "factory" can carry out such a format then I believe that we
- are being ripped off by the manufacturers. I cannot imagine shipping my
- drives from "darkest Africa" all the way to the USA or the Far East just
- to have them reformatted.
-
- Please email at one of the two addresses below if possible. Thank you.
