- I know, this gets asked a lot, and I have seen the answer that because of legal
- reasons, an emulator can't be released. How about releasing one that requires
- the operating system to be stored in a disk file? I own two old Atari's: a 400
- and an 800XL, and I have several things on them that still pass what I can get
- on a PC (games, Games, GAMES). An emulator could be released that emulated
- the hardware and the chip, but the user has to supply the operating system.
- That's how some of the old Translator Disks worked, especially the Analog one.
- You had to copy the old operating system to a disk. I think that this would be
- legal. I own an HP 48SX calculator, and when someone wrote an emulator for it,
- that's how they did it. I have a copy of my ROM's in a disk file.
-
- If someone could at least tell me the name and email address of the author, I
- might try to contact him. Thanks!
