  10. When I worked at Egghead, I remember seeing a device which is like an
  11. easle with a frame to hold a hand held scanner. It came bundled with
  12. software which would convert a grey-scale scanner to a color scanner.
  13. All one would have to do  is put a color picture under the scanner,
  14. pass it over the picture three times and the software would generate
  15. a color picture. Of course this was only availible for IBM compatible
  16. computers. What I'd like to know is if this same technology could
  17. work on a GS. I've already got a Quickie scanner and it does an
  18. excellent job in scanning grey scale, but to color a picture in a
  19. paint program requires a big effort.

  21. Also I remember seeing an ad somewhere that Thunderware's Lightning
  22. Scan hand held scanner is availible for a Mac. As I understand, this
  23. should be the exact same scanner head as the GS version which is the
  24. same as the Quickie scanner. What I'd like to know is can Thunderware
  25. sell just the software and the interface for the Mac? I'd like to use
  26. my Quickie on my Mac sometimes, but now I just scan pictures on my GS
  27. and convert them to a GIF format before I throw it onto the Mac.
