  12. I have a 3000/25 with 2Meg chip 4Meg SC ram.  This is one of the very early
  13. 3000's (40Meg HD [Q P40]).  It is running 2.04.

  15. Last week I was using my friends (new) 3000/16 (50Meg [LP52]) and I ran
  16. 'SYSINFO 3.01' and did a speed test of his drive.

  18. This 3000/16 showed 1.1 MegBytes/sec!

  20. Running this same test on my 3000/25 shows only 770 KBytes/sec ???

  22. Thinking that I must have upgradded something wrong I backed up the system
  23. and ran prod_prep from the 3000 Install (ver 2.04) disk.

  27. I am confused.  Is the 52Meg drive really 25% faster than the 40Meg?

  29. Digging a bit further I found a difference in the fastfilesystem between
  30. the two machines.  My 3000/25 has the rev 35 fastfilesystem (size 22412)
  31. and the 3000/16 had rev 2 of the fastfilesysem (size 20??? [I don't have
  32. the exact number in front of me].  These numbers were reported from
  33. hdtoolbox.

  35. If it makes any difference I still have a 1.3 partition on the drive.

  37. Some time ago I read some talk about the mask value for the filesystem.
  38. It was set to 0xfffffffc by prod_prep.  I changed it to 0xfffffffe but
  39. had no difference.

  42. What are the correct setups here... and are these the type of numbers
  43. I should be seeing? (Commadore?? [Dave H])?
