- About this guy who ranted for the lack of an HD drive in the 1200:
-
- Cut him some slack! Staying with the 880K drive is no problem in the
- Amiga market and may have been necessary to hit the price point since
- the 1200 is not aimed at business markets. *BUT* (notice how big
- this 'but' is??) I can attest personally to the fact that double
- density drives are becoming a thing of the past in the Clone
- world and Macintoshes are following suit. Which means that 1200 you
- bought as a home computer will be a real pain in the butt to use on
- projects from sork since you will have to remember to keep some DD
- disks handy for data transfers. I do this already (exchange clone,
- Amiga, SUN and Mac!) and keeping all the disks straight is an extra
- chore. The clones and the SUN don't care since they read both DD and
- HD DOS floppies. The Amiga only reads DD and the Mac only HD. It
- would be very handy to have new Amigas read and write the HD disks.
-
- Certainly the business Amigas *must* have HD capability. But I hope
- all you students and home enthusiasts can see where compatibility
- is more than just a marketing issue.
