- Well, let me update you on my situation. First, I just
- replaced my old motherboard in my 2000 to a rev. 6.3E(i think),
- and I'm running a Supra2000 Ram card with two megs, a GVP Series
- II wo/ 0 expanded mem on the controller, a 105meg Quantum, and
- a
- Supra internal modem, and a nx-1000c printer. The problem I'm
- having is that while operating the system(autobooting form HD)
- I cannot get any of my WPs, Paint, and other programs with print
- options to print. This is weird because, about a week ago I could
- dump stuff to the printer but, I could only get the generic
- driver to work, and graphics wouldn't print. Now, I get an error
- message, "Can't open printer.device." The printer device is
- still in the devs dir; and I've even replaced it with others I
- found on floppies. This happens with any driver I use that is
- compatable with my printer. One assumption is that there may
- be some compatability problem with the GVP controller and the
- new motherboard; because, for instance, I booted a WP from
- floppy and the printer worked. Oh, btw this is all under 1.3.
- I was told by the dealer who installed the new mother
- board, who by no means had much knowledge of the 1.3 system,
- and is a authorized CBM dealer, this gripe in a latter post).
- The dealer told me in other words that he was clueless, and
- that the solution to my problem would be to upgrade to 2.0.
- This whole thing is really p---ing me off. I had
- to wait over 6 months to get my motherboard replaced, and
- now I can't even print out a simple letter for my
- customers.
-
- Thomas, (getting real peaved with the Amiga and CBM)
