  23. Depends very much on the price.
  24. Let's list the disadvantages:
  25.     No 16bit sound    (competition, Falcon)
  26.     No SVGA gfx    (competitin, clones)
  27.     Limited upgrade path from A500
  28.             (competition, Amiga)
  29.     Keyboard-computer single case
  30.             (competition, clones)
  31.     680E20, against 68030
  32.             (competition, Falcon)
  33.     smaller, less capable floppies
  34.             (competition, everyone else)

  36. Now, we have to weigh these disadvantages against the competition's
  37. disadvantages.  I think we come up pretty much a draw (more or less) and
  38. the deciding factor will be price.  If an A1200 WITH a 40meg harddrive
  39. was $400, it is an outstanding value, and the above limitations could
  40. be understood by the obvious target market.

  42. If an A1200 with a 40meg harddrive and without a 1960 runs for $700, cheap
  43. 386 clones (with detached keyboards, reasonable floppies, cheap VGA
  44. monitors included, etc.) run for about that much, and the A1200 becomes
  45. much less attractive.

  47. It is very much up to marketing whether this machine makes sense or not
  48. to have built (with this feature set).
  49.  
  50. That said, the A600 is worth about $150 in my book, and as I'm pretty
  51. sure Cmdre isn't going to start selling it at that price point, it was a
  52. mistake to have made it.
