- Given all the messages regarding HD floppy problems on the A4000,
- for whatever it is worth:
-
- My machine (SN 000219) can format HD disks into MS-DOS or Amiga
- format. The MS-DOS format is 1.44 MB and the Amiga format (FFS)
- is 1.76 MB. The disk's can be read/written fine with no
- problems that I have been able to detect. I assume that the
- MS-DOS format is readable by DOS machines with high density
- drives, but I haven't tested this yet.
-
- Note that to get this to work, you must have disks labeled with
- the little 'HD' symbol and the hole in the upper left corner.
- As an aside, I had some HD disks that were formatted and written
- on an old machine without the HD drive (i.e. at the old 880k
- size). These disks can't be read on my A4000 (humm, I guess I
- could cover the hole... :-)! They reformat fine to the 1.76 MB
- size though... :-)
