- Kermit, not only is this comparison chart unfair to your software, it is
- unfair to Black Belt Systems, and ultimately to the morphing software
- marketplace. I have taken the liberty to correct the comparison chart. In
- this comparison chart, I have used the following convention:
-
- N/A = Not Applicable (either unnecessary or uneeded in this product)
- N/S = Not Specifically (a feature not specifically named or highlighted in
- the
- software, but within it's capabilities)
- W/C = Who Cares? (a feature that is of little or no value)
- (x) = Explanatory footnote
-
- ASDG GVP BB
- Compatible with Art Department Professional Yes W/C W/C
-
- Graphical User Interface Elements
- 1. Single window Yes No (1)
- 2. Variable onionskin Yes No (1)
- 3. Fast Asynchronous zoom in/out Yes (2) Yes
- 4. Fast asynchronous scrolling Yes (3) Yes
- 5. Variable brightness and contrast Yes No (4)
- 6. Selectively show or hide specific layers & groups Yes N/A (5)
- 7. Full motion preview Yes No (6)
-
- (1) Imagemaster has a single screen showing source and target images in
- side by side views on the screen. It also has an onionskin screen where the
- mix of the source and target images are variable, which can be treated as
- the primary editing screen, if one wishes to do so.
-
- (2) Cinemorph can open a screen as large as you want, and the image windows
- can be arbitarily sized to any size on that screen. This has the same
- effect as a zoom, and is very fast to work with.
-
- (3) Cinemorph can open on a virtual screen. Scrolling is a fast as moving
- your mouse.
-
- (4) Imagemaster has complete control over all aspects of an image -
- brightness, contrast, gamma curve, dynamic range... you name it.
-
- (5) In onionskin mode Imagemaster can hide all points except those you are
- currently working with.
-
- (6) Imagemaster has a filmstrip where you can see a mini-preview of the
- actual morph, not just the control points.
-
- Warping Technology ASDG GVP BB
- 1. Create and control folds Yes N/A N/S
- 2. Precisely isolate regions Yes Yes Yes
- 3. Guarantee image boundary integrity Yes Yes Yes
- 4. Create travelling mattes while warping Yes N/S N/S
- 5. Depth arrange sections of the image Yes W/C W/C
- 6. Unsusceptible to the "bottleneck" problem Yes Yes Yes
- 7. Minimized penalty for complicated warps Yes Yes Yes
- 8. Time independent variable motion control Yes Yes Yes
- 9. Controllable overshoot and undershoot Yes ??? ??? (7)
- 10. Collect logically related correspondence pairs Yes W/C W/C
- into named groups
-
- (7) What is this feature???
-
- Morphing Technology
- 1. Control dissolve rate regionally Yes Yes Yes
- 2. Precisely define dissolve regions Yes Yes Yes
- 3. Warp "before" image differently than "after" image Yes W/C W/C
-
-
- As you can see, ASDG's "chart" is a little off the mark...
