  19.  The A1200 will be officialy announced at Comdex for the North American 
  20. Market. As I understand it, the A1200 is already shipping in  Europe. There
  21. are several european magazines that have reviewed the A1200. One of the 
  22. best reviews is in Amiga Shopper. They compare the A1200 to the Atari
  23. Falcon.

  25.  The A1200 consists of the following;

  27.  Amiga 1200 (A600 style case with numeric keypad)
  28.  68020 CPU (14 mhz CPU with 32 bit bus unlike low end Macs 2.5mips rated)
  29.  AGA Graphics (All resolutions are supported. Same as the A4000 specs)
  30.  PCMIA Slot   (Same Slot found in the A600)
  31.  Trap Door    (A 32 Bit Trap Door! for that extra ram or whatever)
  32.  2 Megs Ram   (Expandable to 18 Megs Of ram) 
  33.  IDE Controller (Like the A600, add an internal HD!)

  35.  Price is 399 pounds!

  37.  Before you are anyone go knocking off the 68020 chip. Lets compare some stats
  38. the A1200 gives better performance then a Mac Classic with an 030 or an LC
  39. due to the 32 bit bus. The Atari Falcon comes with an 68030 16mhz. The Falcon
  40. is rated at 3.5 mips and the A1200 is rated at 2.5 mips. Not that big of a
  41. difference is there. Shows that chips speed isn't everything unless you have
  42. a good design. It should be fairly inexpensive and easy to add a faster CPU
  43. to the A1200 since it's a 32 bit machine you won't have to add costly 32 bit
  44. ram for an accelerator.

  46.  My only complaint about this system is the case. I really can't complain about
  47. this. The A500 has sold in the millins. The A1200 comes with a lot more and
  48. is pretty cheap compared to the price of the A600 and A500. I would like to see 
  49. an Amiga 2000/3000 replacement. Maybe the could design an A2200 in an Amiga 3000
  50. case. This would also allow current A3000 users to switch motherboards since
  51. the case would be the same. I will probably pick up an A1200 while I wait for
  52. Commodore to release a 2000 replacement.
