- Here's your problem right there. I (as a developer) have politely
- asked the system software designers to give the workbench application
- more colors....sadly, since their object was to leave as many colors
- open to other application windows as possible, they have limited the
- maximum colors that can be used in workbench related activities to 8!

- This means that your color background is being truncated to the
- closest 8 colors. This frustrated the hell out of me the first week I
- had 3.0, since I had always run my 2.04 workbench in 16 colors.

- For safety's sake, I just want to make clear that this does not mean
- that the workbench screen can only be a maximum of 3 bits deep, but it
- does mean that anything directly controled by workbench IS limited to
- 8 colors (the workbench "Pens"). This includes icons, backdrops and
- any other workbench activity relating to the Prefs drawer.
