  26. Here's your problem right there.  I (as a developer) have politely
  27. asked the system software designers to give the workbench application
  28. more colors....sadly, since their object was to leave as many colors
  29. open to other application windows as possible, they have limited the
  30. maximum colors that can be used in workbench related activities to 8!

  32. This means that your color background is being truncated to the
  33. closest 8 colors.  This frustrated the hell out of me the first week I
  34. had 3.0, since I had always run my 2.04 workbench in 16 colors.

  36. For safety's sake, I just want to make clear that this does not mean
  37. that the workbench screen can only be a maximum of 3 bits deep, but it
  38. does mean that anything directly controled by workbench IS limited to
  39. 8 colors (the workbench "Pens").  This includes icons, backdrops and
  40. any other workbench activity relating to the Prefs drawer.
