- To make some comments about the future of CallerID, and its use...
-
- Well, listen. I run Welmat, a great mailer. Probably the most
- expandable and forward-reaching systems out there, to say the least.
- Anyways, adding Caller-ID support for welmat is a possibility. The
- ZyXEL modem supports it. So someone calls, and their CID is recorded
- as part of the call for that. The user starts up your bbs, and the
- bbs grabs the CID info. The user is new. The BBS can ask if the
- person is calling for his/her residence, or ask if the CID info is
- valid. If not, then you must fall back to a callback-verification
- system.
-
- Personally, I want CID for several reasons. 1) I like to know who
- calls my system. I don't run a BBS. Just WelMat. I'd like to record
- the CID info with the session log.
-
- I think CID offers a lot of potential.
