-
- I know B.A.D, a disk optimizer, has a workbench mode, such that all the
- .info files are stored in one plaec. This prevents what you described above,
- but it will usually leave other files fragmented somewhat.
-
- I dont know if any other of the disk opts can do this. However, I would
- remind you to backup any data before doing so....
-
- Also, this doesnt necessarily fix your problem. When you open a disk/drawer,
- it searches all the files on that new path. These can be spread all over the
- drive, exp if not opt'ed. When it finds files with the .info, it loads and
- places them on WB. However, it searchs every file in the dir...it doesnt
- know when to stop because its placed the last icon. So even if my icons
- are all on track 0 of the disk, but I have files scattered about the disk
- then it will still do the above....
-
- One further suggestion...if you have WB 2.0, you may use 'show files by name'
- on the disks. This (I believe) will reduce the time to locate the files,
- but you loss the graphical interface.
-
- BTW, has anyone gotten a patch to put little icons in front of the files
- names in this sort of thing (ala Mac)? It would be helpful, but ...
