  11. We have a rather large network supporting a wide range of lan 
  12. cards, protocols and operating systems. One of the common 
  13. configurations used is that of an FTP spec. packet driver
  14. used in conjunction with BYU's ipx. This allows us to 
  15. communicate IP to our UNIX boxes and IPX to our NOVELL servers.

  17. We would like to enable all users of the network to be able
  18. to configure their machine in this way. That is, we would 
  19. like to move away from IP encapsulation in IPX wherever
  20. possible.

  22. PROBLEM: We have, amongst many others, a number of GATEWAY's
  23.          G/Ethernet NICs. These NICs, as far as we can find out,
  24.          do not have an FTP spec. packet driver. However, their
  25.          IPX.COM is supposed to contain a packet driver interface.
  26.          This interface seems to work fine when using software like
  27.          CUTE or TRUMPET but all falls over when trying to use 
  28.          PATHWAY's telnet in conjunction with PATHWAY's interface
  29.          to the packet driver, pktdrv.exe.

  31. Our next step was to use the ODI stack setup. Now in this instance
  32. we manage to get PATHWAY working fine but the ODIPKT.COM interface
  33. needed to run software like CUTE or TRUMPET does not communicate with
  34. the ODI driver.

  36. SUMMARY: We would like to throw out IP and IPX packets without having
  37.          to change our configuration each time. We would like to do 
  38.          this using GATEWAY's G/Ethernet NICs. We also need to run
  39.          PATHWAY's telnet, CUTE and TRUMPET also without having to
  40.          change the configuration each time.

  42. HELP:    Can anyone offer a solution to our dilemma? We would be very
  43.          grateful if you could mail myself or post to this group any
  44.          suggestions.
