- I've read how traceroute works: UDP packets retransmitted with greater
- Time-To-Live values which result in ICMP packets back from each
- router along the way. I'm wondering if there is any lighter-weight
- techinque for determining some kind of distance metric for a destination.
- I am also interested to know if there is anything around that is done
- as a function that can be called rather than a program that display
- information on stdout.
