  11. Hi everybody -

  13. Recently I upgraded our NIS servers to version 2 of the rpc.pcnfsd
  14. daemon that came with our upgrades of version 4 of PC-NFS.  Now, I have
  15. a problem.  Under version 1 of the daemon we had no problems with
  16. verifying user logins from the PC's.  Now, when a user trys to log into
  17. the network, they are unable to do so because of authentication error.
  18. It appears that the daemon is not resolving their password correctly.
  19. But the real kicker to this is that when I log into the network from a
  20. PC using PC-NFS as root or sysadm - I have no problem!! Any other user,
  21. including several other privledged accounts that we have created, can not
  22. log in but root and sysadm have no problems!!  Any ideas?

  24. If this is a faq or has been posted before, please excuse this use of
  25. bandwidth, but I haven't seen either.

  27. The systems we are running or several 486's running MS-DOS 5.0 (I
  28. haven't tried this under Windows yet) and a bunch of Data General
  29. Aviions - both servers and workstations.  The OS on the DG's is DG/UX
  30. 5.4.1 - which is supposed to be SVR4 compliant.

  32. We have no other problems with PC-NFS - we can mount drives and printers
  33. fine, we just can't get the passwords resolved.
