- Hi everybody -
-
- Recently I upgraded our NIS servers to version 2 of the rpc.pcnfsd
- daemon that came with our upgrades of version 4 of PC-NFS. Now, I have
- a problem. Under version 1 of the daemon we had no problems with
- verifying user logins from the PC's. Now, when a user trys to log into
- the network, they are unable to do so because of authentication error.
- It appears that the daemon is not resolving their password correctly.
- But the real kicker to this is that when I log into the network from a
- PC using PC-NFS as root or sysadm - I have no problem!! Any other user,
- including several other privledged accounts that we have created, can not
- log in but root and sysadm have no problems!! Any ideas?
-
- If this is a faq or has been posted before, please excuse this use of
- bandwidth, but I haven't seen either.
-
- The systems we are running or several 486's running MS-DOS 5.0 (I
- haven't tried this under Windows yet) and a bunch of Data General
- Aviions - both servers and workstations. The OS on the DG's is DG/UX
- 5.4.1 - which is supposed to be SVR4 compliant.
-
- We have no other problems with PC-NFS - we can mount drives and printers
- fine, we just can't get the passwords resolved.
-
- Any help anybody can give is *greatly* appreciated - please mail any
- ideas or comments to kub@dlgeh.cr.usgs.gov. Thanks!!
