- I am looking for some serious advice. I want to switch my network
- from a mixture of Phase I and Phase II entities over to Phase II
- only.
-
- This is WHAT I HAVE and... WHAT I WANT
-
- 5 Cayman Gatorboxes
- (with about 100 local Macintoshes)
- -------------------
- Gatorbox CS
- Phase I Ethertalk ----> Phase II Ethertalk
- Routing on, Soft Seed Port
-
- 20 Macintoshes On Ethernet
- --------------------------
- Asante Ethernet Cards
- MacTCP, System 6 & 7
- Phase I & II capable ----> Phase II
- (easy user option)
- 5 Sun 4
- -------
- CAP, Native Ethertalk
- Phase I ----> Phase II
- (easy enough to recompile)
- 1 Vax 4000
- ----------
- Pathworks using Phase II
- Routing Off
- Seed off
-
- I currently have no Phase II routers.
- I realize that I can set up the Gatorboxes as
- Phase 1/2 Transition routers where they can see both phase I
- and Phase II.
- I also know that all routers must have matching zone information
- for Phase II.
-
- I am wondering what is the correct way for me to set up
- the actual routing,
- the new zone names,
- the network numbers,
- and the network ranges.
- How do I give out these numbers? Who should do the routing?
- Can I use the same Zone names on the gatorboxes if they are
- transition routers?
-
- I have played around with various things, and I really wish
- to avoid a mess.
-
- Any advise would be appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
-
