- Hi!
-
- I am having some problems moving files between vanilla UNIX direc-
- tories and CAP volumes that I imagine someone of you has solved
- before.
-
-
- 1. The same Unix machine (a SUN SparcStation) that acts as the CAP
- server is also the mail server. A number of users would like to
- be able to copy email into their CAP volume and have it appear
- as an MS WORD text file to the Macintosh. Currently, I have a
- shell script that copies the file and runs u2m (a utility included
- in the CAP distribution I installed). The mail appears with a
- UNIX icon, and MS WORD must be brought up before an attempt is
- made to read the file. Users would like to click on the document
- as they do for ordinary MS WORD files.
-
- Is there any program I can use to properly update the .resource,
- .finderinfo, et cetera, and set the file type and creator fields?
-
- 2. Some documents that are originated on PCs running WordPerfect are
- FTP'd to the CAP host. We then FTP the document to the Macintosh
- and copy it to the CAP volume from the Mac prior to converting it
- to MS WORD.
-
- It seems a bit extreme to have to move the document from the UNIX
- to the Mac and then back to the UNIX in CAP. Is there a utility
- that will accomplish the same thing as FTP without the Macintosh
- having to serve as the middleperson?
-
- It may be that the answer to both question is really the same, which
- would be nice, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
-
-
- Thanks,
-
