  15. I am considering writing a file management utility for internal use on our
  16. corporate VAX. This utility would have some of the fucntionality provided 
  17. by LIST in the DOS world.
  18.  
  19. It will be used primarily to manage files (delete, move, edit, list, print, and
  20. other simple functions).

  22. I have two main questions:

  24. 1- I loaded a FOO.DIR file into TPU and looked at it. It contains all the
  25.    filenames in the directory FOO, plus some other information. I am assuming
  26.    this information is date/time, size, location on disk, etc. for each file in
  27.    that directory. Does anyone know what is the format for the records in
  28.    FOO.DIR directory ?

  30. 2- I dont want to re-invent the wheel. I there is such a utility that does what
  31.    I need, I would like to consider it, instead of writing my own. Does anyone
  32.    know if such a utility exists ? I would still like to know the FOO.DIR
  33.    record format, for educational purposes, if nothing else.
