  13. In the past two nights, we have gotten the message
  14.  
  15.     Panic : memory corrupted in process ...
  16.  
  17. or something very close to that.  It would occur when the observing program
  18. would hang in a repetitive background process (controlled by a phase table
  19. driven routine called by a sys$setimr at semiregular intervals).  If the
  20. observer attempted to gracefully exit the program (to save data, etc) with
  21. the usual EXIT command, the program would immediately crash, remove all 
  22. workstation windows, expand the startup window from its iconned state
  23. and print the panic message.  I also remember seeing this (context unremembered)
  24. from about a year and a half ago but it only happened once, then.

  26. Our configuration is:
  27.     Vaxstation 3100, 16MB memory.
  28.     VMS 5.2
  29.     VWS 4.0 (I think)

  31. This program as it now stands was originally developed and linked on a 
  32. Vaxstation 2000 running VMS 5.5 but the software was ported to a Vaxstation II
  33. running VMS 5.2 and recompiled/relinked.
