  15. FIRST:

  18. If I start XTGOLD by clicking on an ICON and from there I 
  19. started McAffees "SCAN" it will display the message:
  20.    Shut down system immediately, you`ve got the stoned vius 
  21.    active in memory.......

  23. Well, I kept cool and started a DOS session and started from
  24. there XTGOLD and then started "SCAN" (the same programs)
  25. it was clean.

  27. So I started another DOS session and started "SCAN" directly
  28. not using XTGOLD it was clean.
  29.  
  30. I thought the session running XTGOLD had a bug. So I shut it down.
  31. Restarted it by clicking at the icon and ran "SCAN" form there again.
  32. Again the message: Shut down immediately....

  35. So I started again the SAME XTGOLD out of a DOS session and ran scan
  36. from that XTGOLD, well it told me it was clean.

  39. So I started the BETA version of SCAN_OS2 and it told me its clean...

  42. So I started PLAIN VANILLA DOS and ran scan: everything is fine.

  46. So why does a virus message come up if I start SCAN using XTGOLD when
  47. I start the XTGOLD program using an ICON but NOT when I start it using
  48. a DOS session and run XTGOLD from there?

  58. A friend of mine formatted a disk in school and copied his work onto
  59. that. Then he went to his home machine and copied his work onto that
  60. machine using DOS.
  61.  
  62. Well later on he found out he`s got the "MICHELANGELO" virus.
  63. Well you know all what that one does.........................

  66. THE DISK CONTAINED NO EXECUTABLES ONLY C-SOURCE AND TEXT FILES.
  67. ALL HIS PARTITIONS HAD THE VIRUS AND ONE PARTITION GOT DELETED.
  68. EVEN THE OS2 PARTITON ON HIS MACHINE WAS INFECTED.
