- I hope this hasn't been answered too many times already....
-
- Yesterday my CD Technology Toshiba 3301 drive arrived. I installed it
- on my Adaptec 1542B w/ (I think) no problem -- the drive is listed by
- the board's diagnostics when booting. Since OS2 is running from
- a hard disk driven by the same controller, there's no adapter-level
- problem. The disk is SCSI device 0, the CD-ROM is device 1.
- The CD-ROM loads and its access light blinks during boot.
-
- Now I'm trying to get to the CD-ROM from OS2. I neither find an icon
- nor am I able to access it by drive letter from an OS2 window.
- CD-Technology customer service told me I must re-install OS2 FROM
- SCRATCH to get it to work. I'm hoping for a less painful solution.
-
- 1) Before the drive was installed or the SP applied, I did a selective
- install of CD-ROM support. The appropriate BASEDEV and DEVICE
- statements are in my config.sys as per README. There are no other
- CD-ROM related statements in my config.sys.
-
- 2) I've read TFMs and faq(g) with no success.
-
- 3) I'm running GA w/ SP over it.
-
- Did all of you really have to re-install the WHOLE SYSTEM to get your
- drives to work?
-
- Please reply by mail & I'll summarize if it's appropriate.
