- I do a lot of word processing with multilingual documents (primarily
- Slavic languages with different versions of the Cyrillic alphabet). In
- Windows (boo! hiss!) I use Adobe's Minion Cyrillic typeface and a
- keyboard manager that is packaged with it. This keyboard manager allows
- the user to toggle keyboard layouts on the fly, using either layouts
- provided with the typeface or those customized by the user. The toggling
- can be done either from a pulldown menu or with user-configurable hot
- keys. As is probably obvious, changing fonts isn't enough when you change
- character sets; I need this sort of quick keyboard swapping.
-
- Question: is there anything comparable available for OS/2 keyboard
- management? I have seen references to swapdcp, which is supposed to
- provide custom keyboard layouts for OS/2, but I need to be able to
- switch on the fly, and frequently at that (I often use words from
- multiple languages in a single sentence). Is anyone out there trying to
- do what I'm doing here? Is it possible? Is there a product available
- that supports it?
-
- I have spoken with Adobe and they are interested in porting their
- utility to OS/2, but it's unclear when this is likely to happen. I can
- use their utility within WIN-OS/2, of course, but I'd like something
- that would work with native OS/2 applications.
-
- Thanks,
-
