- I know how frustrating it is to use OS/2. I tried it for a month when it
- first came out and gave up on it until the CSD came out. When it did, I was
- *very* eager to try it out, and so I did the whole routine of tape backup,
- mass deletion, repartition, reformatting, installation, etc. And, I *still*
- had plenty of problems (video syncing, couldn't print, and more). But, I'm
- going to stick with it. I haven't read all the messages on comp.os.os2.misc
- or other related groups so I don't know if you've been posting a lot for
- help, but I can't remember one post except your last one that mentioned
- someone using an EGA monitor. Every problem I've had, I posted it, and so
- many people have written me back with advice. I've used their advice, then
- added a bit of my own creativity and voila, it works.
-
- You must remember that OS/2 is still very young and so not as many people know
- much about tweaking it. Just remember way back when PCs were coming out.
- How many people could nimbly change their autoexec and config.sys? I sure
- as hell couldn't. Sometimes I change it daily! I'm still *very* scared to
- touch OS/2's configuration files and whatnot, but after I go out and buy a
- book, use the extensive help system (which could use some improvements!) and
- play around (which means a *few* crashes :), some frustration, and *lots* of
- posting to this great newsgroup, I too may be able to feel confident with
- changing things in OS/2.
-
- In summary, I would strongly urge you to be more patience and ask for lots of
- help. It's wonderful to post (after hours of frustration) and to receive so
- many responses from people, and then to actually fix the problem! I think
- IBM did a very good job with OS/2. I can't even begin to imagine what OS/2
- 3.0 will be like...
