- Hey everyone...
- I have been getting some really weird errors when trying to
- reinstall OS/2 2.0 on my machine. Let me know what you think.
-
- Here is the situation:
- I had a few problems with my older IDE HD controller so
- I got a new one. This works fine under DOS/Windows. I
- at the same time upgraded from my Trident 8900 SVGA
- card to a Diamond Speedstar 24X SVGA card. I reinstalled
- OS/2 2.0 after going through all this, to make sure
- everything worked OK. I even repartitioned the drive so
- that I could have more space for OS/2.
-
- Here's what Happens:
- OS/2 Install goes fine. I get through all the disks and
- am ready to start the system up for the first time. The
- graphics work fine with the ne SVGA card. I let the
- system start to come up and it makes it past the OS/2
- logo. The disk spins for a while and then stops, like it
- usually does. Then it starts again, then stops leaving
- a "c0000005" in the upper left hand corner of the
- screen.
-
- Things I've Tried:
- I have tried mucking about in the CONFIG.SYS file, with
- limited results. If I change the PRIORITY_DISK_IO line
- to no, IOPL to no, and PROTECTONLY to no, the system
- will come up, but , obviosly, with out DOS or Windows
- support. Leaving IOPL set to YES has different results.
- If I do this, the system halts until I hit a key, then
- the disk spins a bit and then the system hangs. That's
- it.
-
- Anyone have any clues? I would really like to have my system
- functional again. Any help would be appreciated.
