- Dear SAVIOR,
-
- I am in DESPERATE NEED OF HELP. After making the SP available in the NE
- on export.lcs.mit.edu, I went about the process of backing up my BETA stuff
- and otherwise prepared for RE-installing the 2.0 GA release so I could
- stick the SP on top.
-
- Until I installed the wide-release OS/2 BETA I had been running the GA
- os/2 since about the end of July. I had not run into too many problems when
- I first installed os/2 and was hoping that this would again be the case.
- All went very normally EXCEPT that after the installation, THE WPS WAS NOT
- RUNNING!!!!! or at least not visibly so. I eventually got a startup.cmd
- window going, but that was the only thing on screen! NO WPS. I would click
- on the background with the left mouse button.....NOTHING. The right mouse
- button....ZIPPO-NADA-NIL. This started on about monday and since I have
- called IBM, RE-RE-installed the GA at LEAST EIGHT (8) times, was told by
- their analyst to 'try installing on a FAT partition. It should work then'
- which I did- though I correctly thought that this was a TOTAL NULL-suggestion-
- i.e. it didn't work. I even pulled my ULSI math co-processor in case that
- was doing something, even though it hadn't hurt the Beta at all. NO LUCK.
-
- If anyone has a clue, I am very clue-LESS at this point and would like
- to get OS/2 RE-installed and WORKING before the weekend is up. BTW
- at IBM's suggestion we already tried rd'ing all the desktop dir's and del'd
- all the .ini files and then had it regenerate these from scratch, but still
- no luck.
-
- ANY SUGGESTIONS????
-
- My system: 386dx40MHz, have a ULSI 387 40MHz but it is not put-in (see above)
- 120 meg IDE Maxtor HD,
- 8 Meg RAM
- AMI BIOS (which has NEVER had any trouble)in a Standard Comp. BOX.
- Diamond SpeedStar+ 1meg TSENG 4000 video card.
- MAG 17" monitor -NICE :)
- CMS Jumbo 250meg tape- like I can use it under os/2 anyway!?!?
- Telepath modem someone kindly gave me- Yes it DOES WORK FINE.
-
- PLEASE HELP POOR LOST SOUL.
-
- Andreas.
